Delta Center, home to the Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth, stands as the region’s premier sports and entertainment venue, located in downtown Salt Lake City. Hosting over 320 events annually — ranging from NBA and NHL games to concerts by world-renowned artists such as Sabrina Carpenter, Zach Bryan, Tim McGraw, and Blink-182, and a variety of other entertainment — the arena welcomes approximately 1.8 million guests each year. Since its debut in 1991, Delta Center has hosted iconic events, including the 1993 and 2023 NBA All-Star weekends, two NBA Finals, three Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) PPV events, and skating events during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.
A multi-year, inside-out renovation to transform Delta Center into a state-of-the-art, dual-sport venue is currently underway at the arena and when renovations are complete, capacity for hockey games will be approximately 17,000, nearly 19,000 for Jazz games.
In April 2025, Smith Entertainment Group began construction to fundamentally transform Delta Center into a premier, dual-sport venue for basketball and hockey – anchoring Utah’s NBA and NHL sports franchises in downtown Salt Lake City and bolstering its reputation as the region’s premier destination for concerts and entertainment.
A centerpiece of the renovation process is the installation of a new, state-of-the-art seating system that is designed to maintain close-to-the-action seating for Jazz fans and afford full views from every seat for NHL games. The system was designed exclusively for Delta Center and will be installed in the lower bowl to accommodate a nearly 12-foot variance in elevation between rink and court endlines. Additional renovations will raise the bowl floor two feet and elongate the bowl by 12 feet on each end to allow for added capacity and improved sightlines for hockey. Other updates to building infrastructure include adding new premium spaces on Level 1, increasing restroom capacity and installing new dehumidifiers to maintain excellent ice conditions at all times. SEG also began construction on a 450-stall parking structure that will be completed in a future phase of renovations.
Major interior and exterior construction will continue during future NBA and NHL offseasons to add an east-facing entrance and plaza that will serve as the grand entry to the heart of downtown; redesigning and functionally updating the existing plaza and concourses; and remodeling the upper bowl seating to improve sightlines.
The onset of Delta Center renovations also marks the official beginning of a large-scale effort to reimagine downtown Salt Lake City through the creation of a world-class sports, entertainment, culture, and convention district. The multi-block development will reconnect the east and west sides of the city’s downtown core, from Delta Center to the Salt Palace Convention Center. The new development is anticipated to increase visitation, bolster existing cultural assets, and create a more activated, connected, and family-friendly, year-round downtown experience for decades to come.
The strong relationship between Delta Air Lines and the Utah Jazz dates to the early 1990s when Delta Center first opened. After 17 seasons apart, the organizations inked a new long-term agreement in 2023 to bring the Delta Center name back to Salt Lake City – making sports history as the first naming right partnership to be re-established. Delta serves as the Official Airline of the Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth, is an Official Community Partner of the team, and holds numerous sponsorship and branding rights with the team, including in media, hospitality, and employee engagement.
Delta Center is located on the western side of downtown Salt Lake City, approximately 15 minutes from the Salt Lake City International Airport, two blocks from the Salt Palace Convention Center, and within walking distance from hotels, restaurants, and Temple Square.
Construction of the arena began on June 11, 1990 and was completed in record time – 15 months and 24 days later, at a cost of $66 million and a footprint of 3.79 acres. The arena was initially made with three million pounds of structural steel and 7.6 million pounds of rebar, while surrounded by 80,300 square feet of glass.
In Summer 2017, Delta Center underwent a $125 million renovation to enhance the guest experience on all six levels. More than 2,000 workers participated in the renovation project, demolishing concrete walls, removing all the green plastic chairs, and building new dining, club, and social spaces. Salt Lake City-based Okland Construction served as the general contractor for the project with support from 78 subcontractors.
On the main plaza at Delta Center, visitors are greeted by an illuminated black Jazz Note statue, standing 14 feet high and 21 feet wide, alongside a hockey puck representing Utah Hockey Club, which measures 14 feet, 3 inches tall, 13 feet wide, and nearly 2 deep. These installations lead into the 12,000-square-foot America First Atrium, home to an exclusive Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth Team Store. The Team Store, located directly inside the arena’s main entrance, offers a wide selection of both Utah Mammoth and Utah Jazz merchandise, along with four, convenient entry points directly accessible from the main outdoor plaza.
The arena features six upgraded seating levels and notable features such as energy-generating solar panels on the roof, upgraded LED technology on the videoboards, a premium seating area in the upper bowl, and an expanded selection of food options, including many premier local-favorite dining destinations. During Summer 2024 to prepare for the arrival of the NHL, Level 1 of Delta Center underwent significant renovations to create new family hospitality areas, a dedicated locker room for Utah Mammoth, an updated Jazz locker room, newly configured NBA and NHL visiting locker rooms, and shared facilities for NBA and NHL coaches and league officials.
Delta Center offers a multitude of food selections, with more than 30 restaurants and vendors providing a destination dining experience. Among these, the arena proudly partners with 15 Utah-based restaurant favorites. The main concourse features four corner restaurants with specialty menus and comfortable seating areas. During all Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth games, fans can enjoy the Mountain Menu – $2 and $3 pricing for select concessions including Dasani bottled water, boxes of popcorn, nachos, hot dogs, and Farr’s Ice Cream Bowls, available at 15 concession locations across Levels 3 and 5.
Technology has also been deployed to enhance the guest experience through both the Utah Jazz + Delta Center and Utah Mammoth app, high-speed public Wi-Fi, mobile ordering, cloud-based technology, and predictive analytics. More than 400 televisions are located throughout the arena, providing information, directions, and a constant eye on events happening inside the bowl. The concessions experience at Delta Center is also a tech-driven process, occurring through a mobile ordering system via the Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth app.
Delta Center offers luxury suites and exclusive clubs during all Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth games, concerts, and select special events. With five types of suite options – courtside and along Level 4 – fans can enjoy an unparalleled seating experience. Amenities include VIP parking, catering, a private reception entrance, and more.
The arena also features several exclusive clubs, including Delta Sky360® Club, Entrata Club, Black Desert Club, Interform Club, Toyota Club, Gallagher Club, and the Aptive Lofts. All clubs offer a premium experience with features like VIP parking, a variety of fan-favorite foods, and a chef-inspired atmosphere. Amenities such as open bars vary by club, ensuring there’s an option to suit every fan’s preference.
